The Australian Rugby Union yesterday lodged an expression of interest with the International Rugby Board to host the 2019 World Cup.

A decision on who stages the 2015 and 2019 World Cups will be made by the IRB next July.

The 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia carried costs of $120 million. But by 2019, that commitment could exceed $300 million.
