The drain of New Zealand's core talent continues with long-serving Canterbury and Crusaders wing Scott Hamilton confirming a move to Leicester Tigers in the English Premiership.
Hamilton, a versatile outside back who can also play fullback and played two tests for the All Blacks in 2006, has signed a two-year deal with the glamour English club.
He will leave New Zealand after this year's Air New Zealand Cup, ending any hopes of an All Blacks recall.
Canterbury coach Rob Penney said Hamilton, with over 70 Canterbury caps to his name, would be missed by the region's top teams.
"Scott is a very important senior member of our team ... he's a great character to have on the field and dressing room.
"We wish him all the best in England with Leicester."
The 28-year-old was also a key member of Robbie Deans' champion Crusaders sides, playing 58 Super rugby matches where he scored 21 tries since making his debut against the Hurricanes in 2003.
He looks a good option for Leicester with his reliable play and top-notch attitude.
The Tigers, meanwhile, say they haven't given up on former Northland and Blues wing Rupeni Caucaunibuca who has been linked to the club.
Caucaunibuca predictably blotted his record with the club when he failed to turn up for a trial period last week.
But the Tigers are still open to trialling the Fijian if he fronts.
