Saracens coach Eddie Jones believes Owen Farrell will not suffer by being compared to his father Andy Farrell, the former Great Britain rugby league skipper who also plays with the English Premiership side.

Farrell junior became the youngest player to appear in a top-flight game in England when he replaced fellow youngster, centre Alex Goode, in the 67th minute of the 26-17 Anglo-Welsh Cup defeat by the Scarlets on Sunday.

At 17 years and 11 days, Farrell beat Danny Cipriani's record by 36 days.

"He is one of a group of young kids coming through. He's very mature, he's got a very serious attitude and is desperate to make it," said former Australian coach Jones.

"He understands the game for a young kid and has a good appreciation of what's going on around him."
