LONDON - Jason Robinson is to come out of retirement and play in Saturday's 'Help for Heroes' charity match at Twickenham.

Robinbson will be on the field alongside fellow 2003 England World Cup winners Martin Johnson his former England captain and the current national team manager, Lawrence Dallaglio, Richard Hill and Will Greenwood against an International XV.

The match has been organised to raise money for the Help for Heroes fund, which assists with the rehabilitation of British service personnel injured in the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Robinson, who won 51 England caps, said Monday: "I got a call from the Help for Heroes XV manager Phil de Glanville on Saturday and really how could I say no?

"On the same day I heard the sad news about a soldier losing his life who lived near to me and it has made me even more determined to do all I can to help," the former Great Britain rugby league international added.

"A lot of people talk about international and club players putting their bodies on the line but you can't compare that with our soldiers and what they do on behalf of their country," Robinson, twice a member of Britis and Irish Lions squads, explained.

"I'm really looking forward to Saturday and I would encourage as many people as possible to buy tickets and support a superb cause."

The International XV will be captained by former Wales and Lions centre Scott Gibbs, with legendary All Black wing Jonah Lomu also set to feature.
