Stade Francais coach Fabien Galthie has informed his players he will leave his position at the end of the French Top 14 rugby season, a source close to the club said today.

Former France scrum half Galthie has coached the club since 2004 leading them to the French title in 2007.

But the 39-year-old had let it be known over the past few weeks that he wanted a break, and on Thursday told his players that he would not be coaching the club next season.

Galthie will give a press conference following training on Tuesday.

Ewen McKenzie, whose coaching contract with the NSW Waratahs Super 14 side will not be renewed next season, has been touted as a possible replacement, with the former Wallabies prop reportedly meeting with Stade Francais' millionaire owner Max Guazzini in Paris on Tuesday.
