THERE was a demolition at Coogee Oval on Saturday when Randwick scored nine unanswered tries to punish Warringah 59-0 in round eight of the Shute Shield.
The man that wreaked most of the damage was the hulking Ratu Nasiganiyavi, the competition's leading try-scorer, who crossed four times for the Wicks to extend his season tally to 13.
Randwick secured the biggest win of the season to put themselves in third place on the ladder and it wasn't only Nasiganiyavi creating all the carnage at Coogee. His teammate Metui Maile picked up three tries.
It took just four minutes for Maile to get his and Randwick's first try of the match.
Just a minute later Nasiganiyavi charged from 50 metres out and crossed the line to extend the lead to 14-0.
Things didn't get any better for Warringah from there.
The Rats got their best opportunity just before half-time when a turnover resulted in the ball swinging right, but Ed Doyle was held up in the corner and could do nothing to help his side.
While everything was going right for Randwick, West Harbour also continued their impressive season with a bonus-point 36-14 victory over Eastern Suburbs at Woollahra Oval on Saturday.
For the Pirates, Rory Sidey scored two tries and Ben Martin chalked up an 11-point haul to ensure West Harbour held on to second place on the ladder.
Gordon were also in the winner's circle, with a six-tries-to-one, 34-10 victory over Manly at Chatswood Oval.
While Manly looked to have their season back on track with victories in the last two rounds, they couldn't hold onto that form against the Highlanders.
Gordon scored four second-half tries to nil to run away with the game, with wingers Terry Preston and Sisa Waqa each collecting a double.
Penrith finally notched up a win with a 24-15 victory over Southern Districts at Nepean Rugby Park.
The Emus scored four tries for the fourth time this season to collect maximum points and lift themselves off the bottom of the table.
Southern Districts are now the cellar-dwellers, having lost their past six games.
Meanwhile, Parramatta established themselves as semi-final contenders with a 31-8 win over Northern Suburbs at Two Blues Park.
It's been a big drop in form for Northern Suburbs since early in the season. From leading the competition after two rounds, Norths have fallen to ninth, having lost five of their past six matches.
