Former Australian coach Eddie Jones could provide the moral expertise that the Bulls will need to beat the Hurricanes in their Super 14 rugby match in Pretoria on Saturday.

Jones, who was involved in South Africa's successful World Cup campaign last year, is a part-time consultant to the Bulls. His knowledge should come in handy at this stage of the season.

With last year's champions now out of the running for a semi-final berth this season, Bulls coach Frans Ludeke also plans to do some straight talking when he meets referee James Leckie this week.

The Australian will be in charge of the match at Loftus Versfeld; the first home fixture for the Bulls since their disastrous Australasian tour.

Leckie has been held directly responsible for the Bulls losing to the Blues in Auckland where he awarded a match-winning try to the New Zealanders after they had committed blatant obstruction and an offside offence.

An expert such as Andre Watson, the SA Rugby Union's manager of referees' affairs, has confirmed that Leckie should have consulted the television match official and should have awarded a penalty to the Bulls.

Ludeke said on Monday he did not want to "fight" with Leckie but wanted to use video footage to point out the decisions with which the Bulls did not agree when he handled their matches in Hamilton and Auckland.

Watson has also said the controversy about Leckie's handling of the match against the Blues would not be good for the referee's confidence.
