Rugbyheaven is choosing a Team of the Week for each week of
southern hemisphere Tests before the Tri Nations begins.
Test Team of the Week: June 7-8.
15. Robert Kearney (Ireland): Sound at the back in atrocious conditions, apart from one wild swing and a miss on his own line, and used his booming left boot to good effect. Touch of the Chris Lathams about him.
14. Bryan Habana (South Africa): Switched to the right wing to make way for Shane Williams. Little room on attack, but defence and kick-chase was sharp.
13. Conrad Smith (New Zealand): Beat Brian O'Driscoll and showed surprising pace to set up the All Blacks' first try.
12. Jean de Villiers (South Africa): Broke the line and off-loaded at will. Huge defence. Best form of his career.
11. Shane Williams (Wales): The most dangerous player on the park. Set up one try and scored another with a beautiful step that put Habana on his bottom.
10. Butch James (South Africa): Collected 23 points with flawless kicking performance and committed only one suspect-looking tackle.
9. Eoin Reddan (Ireland): Battled gamely behind a beaten pack.
8. Luke Watson (South Africa): Played the fetcher's role but was simply too good to leave out of loose forward mix, so is moved to his Stormers position at No.8.
7. Richie McCaw (New Zealand): Ploughed into the nearest green jersey all night and his troops followed.
6. Juan Smith (South Africa): Part of a dominant Springboks back row in front of home crowd in Bloemfontein.
5. Bakkies Botha (South Africa): Did all the dirty work with his usual intimidation.
4. Paul O'Connell (Ireland): Freezing hands and driving rain made for a tough night at the lineout but got through a mountain of work.
3. Neemia Tialata (New Zealand): Performed strongly on both sides of the scrum and was a 127kg juggernaut with his pick and drives.
2. Andrew Hore (New Zealand): Found his jumpers and showed typical willingness to take on the tough Irish pack.
1. John Schwalger (New Zealand): Came on for the injured John Afoa and mirrored Tialata's good work at the set piece and in the loose. Set up clinching try for Ma'a Nonu.
Dishonourable mentions: CJ van der Linde (South Africa) and Richard Hibbard (Wales). Got into a comical fight near the end, fell over some advertising hoardings and were sent to the sin bin.
